The total population of Surendranagar-Dudhrej is 1,80,000 and the twin towns are located in Surendranagar district. Gujarati is the native and main spoken language of these cities. The population of the district, as per 2011 census data is 1.8 million out of which 41 percent constitute the working age population. This includes 63 percent engaged in the agriculture sector, one percent in the household industry and 36 percent in other services and industry. The district is the 16th most populated district of the State of Gujarat. The economy of the district is largely dependent on agriculture and cotton industries. The district is one of the largest producers of cotton and also houses the first cotton trading exchange of India. Textiles, Chemicals and Ceramics are major industries in the district.
