Bhind has a total population of 1,975,86 and ranks 92nd in term of Hindi speakers. Major employment in Bhind is in Agriculture sector, Cosmetic industry, Electronic products and Drugs. Out of entire workforce, 75% are employed in Agriculture, 23% are employed in above-given industry segment and remaining 2% Household workers. Bhind is a good agricultural belt because the region lies in Chambal valley. This region is identified by rest of India by its extensive ravines. The ravines created by gully erosion, are heavily under soil loss. The district is named after the mythological Hindu saint Vibhandak Rishi, also called Bhindi Rishi. During the Vedic period, this region was ruled by Yadu, the son of King Yayati. Historically during Mahabharat Era, this region was under the reign of Chedi King Shishupal. During Mahajanapada period Chedi had a prominent position. This region was under Gurjara Pratiharas later it went under the rule of Channels. The royal Rajput Rajawat defeated Chandela and brought Bhind under Chauhan Dynasty. Bhind has many architectural remains which belong to various different kingdoms.
