स्पीति घाटी, इस जगह का नाम इसकी भौगोलिक स्थिति के आधार पर पड़ा है, स्पिति का अर्थ है "मध्य भूमि", यह स्‍थान भारत और तिब्बत के बीच स्थित है। यह हिमाचल प्रदेश की ठंडी रेगिस्तानी पहाड़ी घाटी है और यह स्‍थान और इसके आसपास का क्षेत्र सबसे कम आबादी वाला है। यह मूल रूप से बौद्धों का अनुसंधान और सांस्कृतिक केंद्र है। "चंद्र ताल झील" इस जगह की सबसे शानदार सुंदरता है और इसे अपने क्रिसेंट (Cresent) आकार के कारण यह नाम मिला है। यहां आने वाला हर आगंतुक अपार सौंदर्य का अनुभव करता है, इस जगह को घूमने के लिए याक और घोड़े की सफारी सबसे बेहतर विकल्‍प है।
