Tiruvottiyur has a population of about 2,50,000, with a literacy rate of over 88%. It is located on the shores of Bay of Bengal at an altitude of 130 feet in the Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. Tiruvottiyur is one of the oldest habitations by the sea.
